About Us
Our Treatment
Eating disorders are more than problems with food and weight. Although these elements are addressed in the program, we believe that in order to have long lasting results, the underlying issues must be addressed as well.
Those who suffer from eating disorders often feel isolated and lonely, as though they are locked in a dark room without any windows, with four corners and no way out. Entrapped in their disorder, many victims lose touch with their instincts, their sense of self, their intimate connections and every ounce of joy in their lives. Eating disorders can even lead to death. But there is hope for those who seek help.
At the Susan B. Krevoy Eating Disorders Program, our skilled and compassionate treatment professionals view the eating disorder as being symptomatic of deeper concerns and issues; frequently they are the expression of unmet needs, attachment and trust issues, control issues, or used as a way of coping with the conflicts and stresses of life. Food may be used as a way of numbing oneself from pain, temporary soothing, or to provide the illusion of control. Our professionals guide clients to look to the disordered eating pattern as a source of wisdom that can help them discover the meaning behind their struggle and the role that it serves in their life. Armed with this awareness, clients can begin the process of unraveling and healing the past and developing skills that enable them to create a healthy and happy future.
